Special Guests
November 6, 2008

Today we had a group of special guests from the Allegheny Valley School, located on Vine Street. Ten residents and six staff members (including firefighter Michelle Goho) spent the day at the firehouse. The school had planned this first of it’s kind field trip for the residents to come and visit our station and to see the fire apparatus. These residents never had a chance to see a fire truck up close or to see how they work. During the day the residents saw all our apparatus, including our new engine. They had so much fun talking and hanging out with the fire fighters, eating lunch and touring the station. They also got to try on some turn out gear and helmets. A special thank you to firefighters Steve Goho and Dennis Hain, they made the day of some very special people. It was nice to see the smiles on their faces.

Roof Ops Training
October 27, 2008

Tonight members took advantage of some homes that are being demolished by the Federal Government due to be being in a flood plane. Crews along with a few Truckies from the Middletown Fire Department practiced roof operations. Members cut various ventilation holes in the roof. Firefighters use this technique to let the hot gases and smoke vent from the inside of the house when there is a fire. This helps the crews inside by increasing visibility and to prevent a flashover from high temperatures.

3rd Annual Golf Tournament
August 1, 2008

Today Members along with Three Mile Island and Londonderry Township held their third annual golf tournament at the Sunset Golf Course. We would like to thank all of the golfers who came out and all of the sponsors who made this event a huge success for the fire company. This event was started three years ago to raise funds for our building addition at the fire house. Three Mile Island presented us with a check for $79,000.00 which was raised from this event. This amount was much more then we had expected. We also made an additional $2,500.00 in sales at the event. While members worked at this event we also handled a tanker assist to Hershey for a structure fire, an engine assist to Middletown for smoke in a structure, a crash on 283, a van fire on 283 and another crash on 441 along with an ambulance call at the Ridge Run Tavern.
