Accident on Vine Street
May 6

County dispatched Box 54-1 around 06:00hrs for an accident with injuries on Vine street in the are of 283. Chief 54-1 (Nissley) arrived to find 2 vehicles involved blocking the left lane of Vine Street North Bound. Engine 54 (Captain 1 Dupler) arrived and assisted with Pt care and securing the vehicles. EMS transported one Pt and the box was available.

Boat Call During LS Dedication
May 10

While units were attending the Lower Swatara Building Dedication, County dispatched box 54-9 on the Susquehanna river for a water rescue in the area of the Canal Lock boat landing. Engine 54(Deputy Chief Nissley) went en route and county advised of a boat overturned with one person in the water and occupants were screaming for help. Chief 54 (Shellenhamer) added boat 88 to the call. Engine 54-1 and the Utility responded to the township building to pick up the boat. Engine 54 arrived on Canal street and could see the boat upright with 2 occupants on board and stuck on some rocks. Boat 88 put in at the Union Street Landing next to their station in town and responded down the river to the boat. B-88 had the 2 occupants climb on board their vessel and towed the boat to shore. Boat 54 had the RIT and staged down stream from Boat 88. Both occupants were uninjured and the box was cleared.


Lower Swatara Building Dedication
May 10

Today the Engine, Engine 1 and the Utility traveled to the new Lower Swatara Fire Station on Fulling Mill Road to attend their building Dedication. While there units were dispatched for a water rescue on the river. After the box was placed in service units returned to 59 to enjoy a delicious lunch served by Karen's Catering and Commonwealth Caterers both located in Lower Swatara Township. Congrats to company 59 on their awesome new station and you should be Proud!
