With the area being hit with over 3 1/2 inches of rain, county dispatched Box 54-2 for a reported basement fire in a residence off of Landvater Road. Captain 54-1(Kandrac) went in the area with a large amount of smoke and low visibility. Captain 1 found the residence and advised of a working fire.. Chief 54-1 riding on Tanker 54 added another Engine for a fill site and upgraded the the box to a first alarm assignment. Truck 88 staged on Landvater Road. Engine 54 dropped a supply line at Landvater and Miller Roads and layed into the scene picking up the Truck crew at the bottom of the steep driveway. Engine 54 and Truck 88's crew deployed two compressed air foam lines off of the Engine and started to attack the fire which had spread from the basement to the first floor. Engine 88, Tanker 59 and Tanker 54 arrived at Landvater and Miller Roads and set up Tanker 59's port-a-tank for Engine 88 to draft. Chief 54-1 assumed water supply and with the lay of over 1200' of five inch hose requested two additional tankers and a water supply channel. Engine 46 went to School House Road and Vine Street to set up a fill site for the Tankers. Additional resources arrived and made the hike back the long lane and up the steep hill. Units operated for over 4 hours.
