Crash 283 West Bound Sunday, February 28 2010
Around 15:00 County dispatched Box 54-1 for the crash on route 283 West Bound just East of the Vine Street off ramp. Chief 54-1(Nissley) arrived to find a car had struck a pick up truck that was parked along the road while the driver was in the woods hunting. There was one patient that was in and out of consciousness. Engine 54 arrived and began Patient care and stabilized the vehicle. Engine 54-1 assisted the Engine crew with fluids on the road way. Ambulance 54-1 transported the Patient to the hospital. Fire Police remained on scene to provide traffic control for PSP and Dailey's towing. The box was placed in service.

Mill Road Garage Fire Saturday, February 20 2010
County dispatched Box 81-2 in Conowago Township around noon for a reported structure fire on Mill road in the area of route 283. Captain 54-1(Dupler) went en route and county advised the owner reported an explosion, with multiple calls coming in from passerbys on route 283. Chief 54-1(Nissley) arrived and reported a 3 bay detached garage with a working fire. Engine 7-4-2 arrived and pulled a 2 1/2" line and started to attack the fire. Engine 54 and Tanker 54 arrived and Engine 54 pulled 2 - 1 3/4" CAF lines while the Tanker supplied water to Engine 7-4-2 and Engine 54. Tanker 7-11 arrived and nursed Tanker 54. Engine 54-1 arrived and dropped their crew off and headed for the hydrant at Ballyshannon and Stienruck Roads to establish a fill site for the tankers. Truck 48 arrived and staged on Mill Road sending their manpower to the scene to assist. Utility 54 shut down traffic at Mill and Deodate Roads. Crews worked together to get control of the fire and to assist with overhaul. The State Police and Dauphin County Fire Marshals arrived to investigate the cause of the fire. The homeowner had an friend bring in a excavator to knock down the building due to the walls being unstable. Command cleared the box.

Heavy Snow in February Thursday, February 11 2010
The first part of the month brought two major snow storms to the area. During both storms members staffed the station overnight to provide a quick response. Luckily there were no major calls to deal with. The ambulance ran a couple of medical calls and fire ran a gas leak during the second storm. The gas leak was a result of a barn collapse from the heavy snow. It took 2 hours to travel the 5 miles to get to the scene. The township front end loader driven by Captain Naples(twp. employee) led the way and had to move 6' high snow drifts and assist with removing stuck vehicles to clear the road. Deputy Chief Nissley and Engine 54-1 arrived along with UGI to secure the gas leak inside of the hog barn. Crews returned to the station.

Heavy Rain, High Winds Bring Multiple Calls Monday, January 25 2010
Today heavy rain and high winds that moved into our area in the early morning hours, kept the fire police and fire company busy. The first call came in around 04:30 for the fire police to assist the Rheems FD in Lancaster county with shutting down a roadway due to power lines down. Shortly after that fire police were then called to assist Derry Twp. with closing a road due to a large tree down. Then just before 07:00 county dispatched box 54-1 for a pole and wires down in the 700 block of Colebrook Road. While operating at this call a person advised of a tree down blocking Schoolhouse Road near Roundtop Road, Chief 54(Shellenhamer) went to investigate finding nothing. Then another vehicle reported a transformer explosion in the area of Portabellas on Route 230. Chief 54-1(Nissley) searched the area to again find nothing. Londonderry Twp. road crew set up barricades on Colebrook due to an extended arrival time for Met-Ed. Chief 54-1 was then dispatched to check on a Mobile home that had it's roof blown off at Geyers trailer park. Chief 1 arrived to find park maintenance was already there repairing the damage and the box was placed in service. The last call was for fire police to direct traffic on Vine Street due to the red lights not working due to a power outage in the area.

Company Responds To Conewago Twp. Sunday, January 24 2010
County dispatched Box 81-1 in Conewago Twp. to assist Company 48 with smoke in a structure on Ballyshannon Drive. Engine 54(Captain 1 Dupler) arrived and went interior to search the structure. After finding no evidence of smoke command 48 placed the units available.

Tanker assist to Lower Swatara Friday, January 22 2010
Today the Tanker was disptached to assist company 59 on a brush fire in place of thier tanker which was out of service. Tanker 54(Lieut. 1 Ice) arrived and supplied water to Engine 59 and the crew assisted Co. 59 with overhaul.

Trailer Fire Wednesday, January 20 2010
Just before 5pm County dispatched the 54-3 Box for a reported mobile home fire at #8 Misty Lane in the Pine Manor Mobile Home Park. Engine 54 (Captain Naples) went enroute and county advised of a working fire. Engine 54 arrived on the scene with smoke showing and crews pulled a CAF line and entered the trailer. Engine 88 arrived and pulled the skirting from around the bottom of the trailer where crews found fire underneath. Engine 88's crew then pulled a second CAF line and knocked down the fire in the front . Engine 54 crew after only finding a smoke condition interior knocked down the fire to the rear of the trailer from the exterior. Crews remianed on scene for overhaul and to assist Company 54's Fire Marshel.

Crash on Vine Street Friday, January 15 2010
Around 13:00 county dispatched box 54-1 for a reported accident with injuries at the 283 east bound off ramp and Vine Street at the red light. Engine 54(Deputy Chief Nissley) went enroute and county advised of two cars involved blocking the roadway. Engine 54 arrived and EMS advised there were no injuries. Engine 54 and Engine54-1's crew secured the vehicles and took care of the fluid leaks. Vehicles were removed and the box was placed in service.

Tanker Assist on a Barn Tuesday, January 12 2010
This evening the Tanker was dispatched to assist Maytown Fire Dept. in Lancaster County on a second alarm barn fire. Tanker 54(Lieut. 1 Ice) went enroute with 8 personel. Tanker 54 arrived and dropped the port-a-tank and unloaded water for the units on scene. The Tanker operated for about 2-3 hours before being released by Command 7-9

Trailer Fire and Crash Sunday, January 10 2010
Engine 54 was dispatched at 11:21 to assist Middletown Fire on a trailer fire in upper Royalton. Engine 54 arrived and Lieut. 54 (Smith) took manpower and the crew staged. While Engine 54 was enroute to the trailer fire, county dispatched Box 54-1 for an accident at the intersection of Colebrook and Schoolhouse Roads. Engine 54-1 went enroute and county advised of one injury. Engine 54-1 arrived and assisted with patient care. Ambulance 54-1 arrived and transported the patient to University Hospitol. Box was placed in service.
