Structure Fire of the Year
April 3
County dispatched Box-54-2 for a reported structure fire at 4439 Woodcrest Ave. in the Londonderry Estates Development. Chief 54-1 (Nissley) went enroute and county advised that the caller was reporting smoke in the house, possibly coming from the roof. County then advised they got a call from a neighbor reporting fire through the roof. With this info county upgraded the box to a first alarm. Chief 54 (Shellenhamer) went on the scene reporting a working fire and that everyone was out of the building. Chief 54-1 arrived and assumed the command. Engine 54 laid 1300' of 5" from the second entrance of the development and took a position in front of the building. Tanker 54 arrived and pulled in front of E-54 and supplied the Engine with water. Truck 88 arrived and staged in front of the building. E-88 finished E-54's lay with another 1200' of 5" to a Hydrant on Stienruck Road and supplied E-54. This hydrant was just recently installed for a new Development off of Steinruck road and E-88 advised later that they never had to place their apparatus into pump gear with 100psi residual on their intake gauge! Engine 46 arrived and was assigned the Rit. Engine 48-1 officers were assigned accountability and Safety. Tankers 59,47 and LebCo 3 arrived and were assigned to stage with Tanker 54 for their water if needed. Chief 47 was assigned Water Supply. Chief 54 manned the deck gun on E-54 and as crews were stretching interior attack lines a bulk of the fire was knocked down. Crews knocked down the remaining fire inside and control was marked. Units remained on scene doing overhaul and assisting the fire Marshals with their investigation. Company 54 would like to thank all companies that operated on the scene and that also stood by in our quarters covering our township.
